All Matter

Matter is an emerging smart home standard designed to improve device interoperability across different manufacturers and ecosystems, allowing lights, switches and other devices to work together more reliably. Built on IP and leveraging modern security and commissioning methods, Matter aims to simplify integration and give end users greater confidence that devices will interoperate whether controlled from a phone, a voice assistant or a central controller.

For lighting projects, Matter promises easier setup, consistent behaviour across brands and better long term flexibility as systems evolve. For installers and specifiers the key considerations are product support, gateway needs for certain deployments and planning for firmware update processes to keep devices secure. Matter is particularly relevant where future proofing and cross vendor compatibility are important.
