COB LED Strip Lights

Unlike traditional LED tape, a COB LED light strip features densely packed LED chips bonded directly to the circuit board, producing a smooth and uniform light output. These LED COB strip solutions are ideal for architectural lighting, plinth lighting, and installations where visible LED hotspots must be avoided. Available in multiple colour temperatures and dimmable options, COB strips provide efficient, flexible lighting for interior applications.

COB LED vs Traditional LED Strip

Compared with standard SMD strips, an LED COB strip produces a much smoother light distribution.
A COB LED light strip differs by integrating the LED chips directly into the substrate. This allows significantly more chips per metre, often reaching up to 640 chips per metre in high-density designs. The result is a perfectly even linear light output that works particularly well in LED aluminium profiles, diffused channels, and architectural lighting installations. This high chip density provides improved brightness, flexibility, and thermal efficiency compared with traditional LED tape solutions.

COB LED vs SMD LED

In the example above you can see a cut section of standard LED strip light compared to a cut section of COB LED strip light. There are just 3 chips over a 50mm length compared to 24 COB chips. This shows how much the pixilation will reduce when using COB Strips compared to SMD.

COB LED Light Strip Technology

Because the chips are closely packed together, the light appears as one continuous line rather than individual points. This makes COB strip lighting ideal for applications such as under-cabinet lighting, plinth lighting, display lighting, and interior ambient illumination.

Can You Cut COB LED Strips Anywhere?

We do offer cut-anywhere COB LED strips! But please check the technical specs and datasheets for the cut intervals of your LED Strip before proceeding, as not every COB strip is free cutting.
