Types of colour changing LED strip
There are many variations of colour changing LED strips each used for different purposes. Below is a brief description of the different types of colour changing LED strip and how they work.
CT Adjustable Colour changing LED strip
Colour temperature adjustable LED strip is a tunable white product that can be adjusted from cool white to warm white. This is used frequently in interior design projects to allow users to create different moods throughout the day. Colour temperature adjustable LED strips feature a Dual warm white/cool white Colour Diode. By adjusting the output of each channel the strip is able to change the colour temperature.
RGB Colour changing LED strip
RGB LED strips produce a full range of colours using a tri-coloured diode. RGB diodes work by mixing red, green and blue together to make the colour required. This process is very similar to the way in which a TV pixel works to create a picture. As RGB strips are able to produce a wide palette of colours a full range of moods and effects can be created.
RGBW Colour changing LED strip
Where RGB LED strips feature a tri colour LED chip, RGBW strips feature an additional white channel. RGB LED strips struggle to produce pure white as they have to mix three colours together to do so. With an additional white Channel, RGBW strip can easily produce a pure white by simply activating the white channel. RGBW strips are available in a range of whites including RGB Cool White, RGB Natural White and RGB Warm White.
RGB + CT Adjustable Colour changing LED strip
RGB+CT adjustable 5 in 1 LED strip lights are a high end solution with full colour changing control. RGB+CT adjustable strips feature a 5 colour chip with RGB colour + cool white and warm white. By mixing these colours together these strips can produce a full range of single colours and white colour temperatures. This type of LED strip is often used in production and interior design projects where a wide colour palette is required.
