A growing number of LED controllers, particularly DMX decoders and RGBW or colour-changing LED drivers, are now specified with high per-channel and combined output ratings. Connecting multiple smaller drivers to a single controller requires careful power-sharing configuration, adds wiring complexity, and can introduce imbalances that affect performance. A single 400W driver eliminates these challenges entirely, delivering a clean, stable 24VDC supply to the entire control system from one unit.

The driver accepts a 175–265V AC input, making it fully compatible with UK mains supplies, and provides a tightly regulated 24VDC output with ±0.5VDC accuracy across both linear and load variation, which is essential for maintaining consistent colour accuracy and brightness in professional LED installations.

Comprehensive protection features are built in as standard. Short circuit protection automatically resets once the fault is cleared. Over voltage protection is continuously active. Over temperature protection will shut down the output if thermal limits are exceeded. Simply allow the unit to cool and re-energise to restore normal operation. These safeguards protect both the driver and the connected LED products in real-world installation conditions.

To maximise the lifespan of this driver and the LED lighting system it powers, we recommend running it at no more than 70% of its maximum rated output, which is approximately 280W of continuous load. When powering RGB, RGBW or CCT colour-changing systems, where peak current demand across all channels simultaneously is rare, higher loading can be accommodated; however, the 70% recommendation remains best practice for permanently energised white-light applications. Running at full rated output (400W) is manageable for shorter periods.

This driver is air-cooled and installation location is important. It must be situated in a well-ventilated area where free airflow around the casing is maintained at all times. It must not be covered with insulation or installed in sealed, unventilated enclosures.
