LED DMX Decoder
A DMX LED decoder is a device that converts a DMX signal to PWM. This will let you control LED lighting such as
LED strip lights
and other lighting products from a DMX controller such as a stage lighting desk or a
DMX wall panel.
Some decoders are also RDM compatible. RDM decoder settings can be adjusted from a DMX512 RDM controller. RDM or Remote Device Management allows two-way protocols from the device to the controller.
DMX or digital multiplex can be installed on your computer or laptop in the form of a program to control your DMX devices. The DMX decoders should be connected to a power supply to power it and also any product that is connected to it.
In DMX, the number 512 corresponds to the number of DMX channels that are available on a DMX device. A single-colour LED strip will take up one DMX address, whereas RGBW colour-changing strips will take up four DMX addresses, one address for each colour.
A LED Decoder DMX 512 setup is easy, the units have an interface that can be in the form of dip switches or control buttons and a digital display.
